When a drain needs lining, there are usually lateral junctions to consider from other connecting pipes such as toilets or gully connections. If lateral connection is not cut open, this will cause the drain to block up.
Prior to installing the liner, lateral connection points are identified and measured out. Once the liner has cured we are then able to send our robotic cutter down the drain to the located connection before lining.
he connections are then cut out using a specially designed diamond blade on a robotic arm.
The cutter is controlled above ground by the engineer working in conjunction with a CCTV camera unit, allowing us to view and control the cutting process.
Lateral cutters can also be used to remove solid obstacles such as cement or encrustation deposits.
